Happy Thanksgiving!
It’s finally Thanksgiving break! I have been waiting for this for a long time! I’m finally at my aunt’s house…thank goodness I have family nearby to spend the break with. I can’t wait until tomorrow, I get to help cook! I really like to cook but I haven’t really practiced enough because I never have the time. This time I get to help my aunt cook Thanksgiving dinner. She’s a great cook and she loves doing it so it’ll be fun to help her out. My family doesn’t really eat all the traditional Thanksgiving dishes, like stuffing and mashes potatoes. We always have turkey but the rest of our dishes are Peruvian dishes…so it’s like Thanksgiving-Peruvian style : )
So now that Thanksgiving is tomorrow, that also means Black Friday is coming up! The plan is to wake up really early to go to the mall and shop. I really don’t need to buy much stuff but I like to see all the stuff on sale! I usually plan on waking up really early on Black Friday but it usually never happens. Maybe it’ll happen this year….ummm, we’ll see! hehe! HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!!
A productive weekend?
So I haven’t been that productive so far this weekend. I meant to write my paper and study for my physics exam yesterday but that never really happened. Well, I did end up finishing most of my paper, so at least I did something! haha! I may not have done much studying but I did have fun doing other things. I watched a lot of America’s Next Top Model…I couldn’t help it, it’s always on! Oh, and I also went to the SEB movie on-campus last night. They were showing Rush Hour 3! I have been wanting to see this movie for such a long time and I finally saw it! This movie is absolutely hilariuos!
Anyways, now I’m doing my laundry before I head to the library to study for my physics exam. I think it’s awesome that there’s a website that tells us which washers and dryers are being used at the moment and how much time is left for each washing/drying cycle. It makes things so much easier! This weeked has been fun but now I have to stop procrastinating and study! I hope this plan works! : )
It’s raining!
The weekend is officially over. So sad! So, it’s really cold in Maryland now. I’m still not used to the cold weather and I know that it’s just going to get worse later this year. The weather in Sacramento doesn’t get that cold over the winter. The worse thing that we get are thunderstorms and people over there make a big deal about it. That’s nothing to me now that I have experienced snow storms. When I used to commute, it was annyoing to have to clean my car and the walkways after each storm but it was a good workout! haha! Last winter I had a scary experience during a storm; I was walking back to my car after my class (I took a class on-campus during winter break) and the storm had just started…..The snow was pouring down so heavily that I seriously couldn’t see where I was going. I couldn’t even see where my car was. I was so scared, and the cold was making my hands and face feel numb. I was freaking out but I finally found my car but I was having trouble finding my keys in my backpack. Long story short, I survived! : )
So, it’s raining now and it was pretty cold last week and I didn’t have any of my coats on-campus. I keep all the rest of my stuff at my aunt’s house so I went to her house on Saturday and got all my coats, scarves, and gloves. She also fed me the best food in the world. It’s called “arroz con pollo” in Peru. It’s this green rice with veggies and chicken. It’s so good! Eating this made me miss peruvian food so much. At least I get more of that during Thanksgiving break which is coming up soon! Yay!
I’m a UMBC Ambassador!!
A few blogs ago, I mentioned that I was accepted into the UMBC Ambassadors program. Well, today we had our first meeting and I’m so excited! I officially signed up for the UMBC Visit day this Monday. I get to help out with sign-up and check-in! I love the fact that UMBC offers so many sessions to help prospective students learn more about what UMBC has to offer. There are many visit days and there’s even a reception day for Hispanic students and an overnight visit day for out-of-state students! Anyways, I’m really excited about what’s in store!!
